All major cities have districts. They are usually named after a landmark in the area, a major street running through it, or some other signifier. Some famous districts are Greenwich Village in New York City, Mile End in Montreal, and Shimokitazawa in Tokyo. These are awesome real locations, but what do you do if you want to create a fictional district for a story? We have the solution: our District Name Generator!

This generator features an algorithm we fed with the names of real districts, like the three previously mentioned. Using this info, it creates fictional district names that seem very real. This is a terrific resource for novelists, screenwriters, and video game developers. Best of all, it’s totally free and requires no accreditation to us!

How to use this free District Name Generator

We know creative people are usually in a rush, so we won’t slow you down. Right now, there are already two dozen fictional district names from which to choose. Hit the COPY button next to the one you like best, and get back to crafting your fictional world!

However, if you have the time, you might want to do some hunting to find the perfect district name. To generate a new list of names, hit the GET MORE button. You can tap this anytime you need to and as much as necessary since this tool has no usage limits.

As you go, be sure to mark a few names as favorites. You can do this by tapping the HEART button next to any of the names. Once you do this, you can keep generating new names, as it won’t affect your list.

When you’re ready, hit the SAVED button at the top of the page (mobile users: it’s the heart next to the menu). Doing so will show you the list of names you’ve saved so far. Here, you can save the list by tapping DOWNLOAD or start fresh by hitting DELETE ALL.
