This is a completely free service you can use as much as you like. It works entirely in your browser, so there’s no need to download anything. Let’s get started!

First Name Generator: How does this free tool work?

If you’re not really sure what you’re looking for, you’ll find our server has already created two dozen first names for you. This is a random assortment, but one might jump out at you. If it does, hit the COPY button and have fun!

Most people, however, will want to use filters. First, you’ll want to select your preferred gender. Using the drop-down menu, select either FEMALE or MALE, or leave it as ANY GENDER if you don’t care. Next, select the origin of the name. This is helpful if you or the character you’re creating need a name that fits a certain background. If that doesn’t apply, you can leave this as ANY ORIGIN.

When you’re satisfied with your selections, tap GENERATE. Now, you’ll have a list of 24 first names that fit the criteria you selected.

Peruse the list and mark any you like as a favorite by tapping the HEART button next to it. When you’re ready for more names, tap GENERATE MORE. This will create new first names based on the filters you previously selected. You can hit GENERATE MORE as much as you like.

When you feel like you’ve got a good list of names, you should save the list. Hit the SAVED button — the heart icon at the top of the page next to the menu bars — and then hit DOWNLOAD. This creates a text file you can save anywhere.

If you want to start again, hit DELETE ALL, and then start the process anew.
